Are Private schools better?

When looking at the data, private schools do not benefit children more who go to public schools.  When you take the inner city schools out of the equations then suburban public schools have the same and at times higher achievement than private schools do.  So as we see people from the same socially economic background their is no difference in private versus public school.  This only becomes very noticeable once poorer school that are usually inner city or minority dominated schools do private schools numbers have real value.  Since these public schools are under funded it shows as their students under achieve which many people will make the argument that their needs to be more private and charter schools and their is no need for public education.  They do not take the time to fix the problem, but put somebody else in charge of the problem as that today politicians do not have to take the blame for failures of our education system

Whats the Value of Education?

When we take a look at privatization through the World Band and the IMF for these third world countries, we see many children especially young women not able to attend school due to the rising cost of education that in some countries over 50% of a population will not be able to read their own language.  Just looking at what is going on in the world around us, which is lead by a United States influence.  How can we allow them to do the same in this country.  We see that it does not work in other places, as directed by these world organizations, so why do we think it would work in this country.  What will happen when parent are not able to pay for their children to go to school and do to budget cuts the states will not be able to pick up the tab, which is a real possibility because education is the first thing cut in all states and federal governments budgets.  Will this country not allow children to go to school if they cannot pay.  Where is are value for education gone.  We know that it opens doors and gives opportunity but it seems that if all schools become privatized, we run the risk that not everybody will be able to go like the problems that we have with the college system now.  Just a thought.

Something to Think about

There are definite positives to privatization of the schools, but we know that not everybody can go to these schools.  The reason why some cannot go to these schools is because of money issues.  What will youths do if all public schools are made private?  I’m sure that the government will give these school money to allow schools to take in students like they do now, but what happens when there is more students than money to go around.  Will the laws change and not every student have to attend school?

There are issues that I do not think everybody is considering.  What happens if schools or companies that run these schools decide to raise the money needed to go to school like they do in college.  Do we want our grade schools just like college, and we know that everybody has the right to go to college but not everybody has the opportunity.  I think this will happen at our schools if they all become private.  What responsibility will schools have if they decide to shut down because they say the cost is too much.  Will the states or government have any say so in how they will run?

The Perceived Pros

Lets take a look at what is said to be the good that comes out of the privatization of education.  With education in the private sectors, gives students the best opportunity to get a quality education.  In these private schools we see a higher standard in education and more money that flows through the school.  We can see this through out university system.  This allows universities to save on money and then can redirect money that are not from corporations into other areas.  This gives schools flexibility in their direct spending, as well as save tax payers money that the states do not have to put money into education if they can get it somewhere else.

Just looking at the private school system, they have the top notch programs in all forms of education through out the country.  If you want improvements in educations this seems like a good idea.

The Deal

Hello my name is Osurè Brown. The purpose of my blog is to scrutinize the privatization of schools. I’ll be posting topics concerning the history of schools privatized and how that affects people in those communities. I will be taking a look at how teachers are treated and what is being taught at these schools. I’m going to take a look at what communities are affected and process how schools are privatized. This will be an ongoing blog that I will be updating on a weekly basis.
